June 30, 2009: Members of VFW Post 7589,
VFW Auxiliary 7589 and American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary assisted the
4-H Camp in Front Royal, Va. conduct a mini-mobilization designed to
simulate how soldiers ready themselves for deployment.
The event included several stations
including a medical station where the "troops" had their
height measured and did several jumping jacks. Additional stations
included a demonstration of Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), a discussion of
supplies and face painting. At each station the "troops"
were required to have their paperwork (a small passport) stamped.
The event concluded with a
demonstration by a US Army drill team. |
